The flaw can affect the access of hard disk drives or any other device that connects using SATA.
Top manufacturers such as HP, Samsung, DELL, Acer and Apple(only affecting the quad-core models) have been affected by the chipset glitch. With the release of the new MacBook Pro’s in February/March, delays are expected.
Intel spokes person Stephen Smith confirmed that the fault will be resolved in a few weeks. Intel claims that the cost of recall, replacements and lost sales will cost around $1 billion.
